Requirements and Deadlines
The overall admission criteria for the University are based on the entire record of the applicant and availability of departmental resources. The items considered include:
- Submit Prospective Graduate Student Information Form
- Holding a four-year baccalaureate degree or higher from a college or university of recognized standing (i.e., degrees from institutions outside the US are evaluated for equivalency to US degrees)
- Submit on-line Texas common application
- Pay application fee
- Official GRE scores sent from testing service to Office of Admissions
- Official Transcripts sent Office of Admissions
- 3.0 GPR (Grade Point Ratio) in the last 60 hours of coursework
- Three Letters of recommendation sent to department (at least one from a professor)
- Professional and/or academic experience
- Promise of ability to pursue advanced study and research satisfactorily
- Adequate preparation to enter graduate school in the specific discipline or field of study
- Statement of Purpose Essay
- Faculty member in ESSM has agreed to serve as Major Professor

Deadlines:
- United States Citizens: June 1 for Fall, October 1 for Spring and March 1 for Summer
- International Students: March 1 for Fall, August 1 for Spring and November 1 for Summer
