Aaron Michalewicz awarded natural resource scholarship

Aaron Michalewicz, a freshman in Rangeland Ecology and Management, received the Natural Resource-Excellence in Education Scholarship in October of 2009.

The $10,000 scholarship, given by the Texas Wildlife Association Foundation, Inc. and the San Antonio Livestock Exposition, Inc., was presented to a college freshman pursuing a degree and career in natural resources.

Michalewicz plans to apply for the Natural Resource Conservation Service internship during the summer of 2010. He said that if he works for the NRCS for three summers, the company will offer him a job upon graduation.

"Eventually, I would like to farm and ranch," Michalewicz said. "My interest in natural resources made Rangeland Ecology and Management a logical combination and easy choice of major."

He was involved in 4-H while growing up in Big Lake, Texas, and is a member of the new collegiate 4-H program that is being started at Texas A&M. One of Michalewicz's favorite parts of college is attending Aggie football games.

Along with the Natural Resource-Excellence in Education Scholarship, he has received a Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo scholarship and the Sandhills Livestock Show scholarship.
