Plant Identification Team Places Second

The department of Ecosystem Science and Management undergraduates excelled at the Society for Range Management Annual 2009 meeting held in Albuquerque NM. The eight students on the Plant Identification Team placed second in competition. The contest had a total of 105 students from 18 universities representing the United States, Mexico and Canada. Team members Steven Goertz and Kelly Haile placed 1st and 5th, respectively, in individual competition. Andy James placed 3rd in the combined award competition of the Plant Identification Contest and the Undergraduate Range Management Exam Contest.

The Undergraduate Range Management Exam team also competed with 5 members against over 180 students and 23 universities.

Caitlin Connell was elected secretary of the Student Conclave which represents the students from across North America.

The Plant Identification Teams also placed first and at the Texas Section Society for Range Management Meeting in Nacogdoches. The teams also received the top 4 individual placings. In competition at the Texas Chapter of the Wildlife Society the Team placed first and had the 3rd, 4th, and 5th place individuals.
