Texas A&M Chapter of the Society for Ecological Restoration help in Memorial Park

In late January, the Texas A&M Chapter of the Society for Ecological Restoration (SER) traveled to Houston to participate in the Memorial Park Restoration Project hosted by the Memorial Park Conservancy. Members helped plant over 1,500 trees, including longleaf pine, chinquapin oak, sweetgum, American sycamore, red maple, bald cypress, and more.

TAMU SER members who participated were Dalton Owens, Ryan Oelke, David Abel, Marisa Collura, Cassidy Ince, Lela Culpepper, Lindsey Luetge, and Carolyn Swize.

Helping Memorial Park Conservancy was a great opportunity for members to gain experience with restoration projects conducted in an urban setting. SER will be traveling back to Memorial Park in February, March and April to continue hands-on involvement in the restoration project.

Thanks and Gig'em,
