Dr. Kothmann is a Professor in the Department of Rangeland Ecology and Management with Texas A&M University. He received his BS (1961) in Range Management and Ph.D. (1968) in Range Science from Texas A&M University and MS (1963) in Range Management from Utah State University. He joined the faculty of the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station in 1967 and Texas A&M University in 1970 as Assistant Professor, was promoted to Associate Professor in 1974 and Professor 1979. Dr. Kothmann has undergraduate and graduate teaching and advising responsibilities. Courses pertain to rangeland inventory and evaluation, grazing management, range livestock nutrition and analysis of natural resource systems. His research is focused on developing models for ranchers to utilize in planning, monitoring and evaluating grazing management. He is also exploring the use of Bayesian belief networks as probabilistic expert systems for decision analysis in natural resources management.
